The name Nofo̠ku Smöt Hadfow is derived from the Sylvin language, as Nofo̠ku Smöt Hadfow was founded by Gowesbes, who was culturaly Wood Elf.

Climate

Overview

Nofo̠ku Smöt Hadfow was founded durring the late 13th century in spring of the year 1192, by Gowesbes. The establishment of Nofo̠ku Smöt Hadfow was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Gowesbes struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Nofo̠ku Smöt Hadfow as a prison colony.

Nofo̠ku Smöt Hadfow was built using the conventions of Wood Elf durring the late 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Nofo̠ku Smöt Hadfow is no diffrent. The city's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Nofo̠ku Smöt Hadfow is buildings are grouped arround an odd layout of crampt paverstone streets, which seems to be based on an overlapping squair patern such that there are small squares at the cornor of every bigger square. Sometimes buildings exist in the smaller squaires, other times they are open spaces, or occupied by temporary structures. The city is defended by arcane means. It's hard to spot at first, but there's a tell tell shimmer in the air arround Nofo̠ku Smöt Hadfow, and you can spot the ocasional warding glyph carved into a rock or tree all arround town. These mystical defences are ancient, unknowable, and unassailable by current means... Assuming everything is in working order. Otherwise, the wards are little more than a deathtrap. The Relic of the World That Was has suffered a visible ammount of structural damage, leaving them effectivly useless. One can't help but wonder why the has not yet effected repairs.

Nofo̠ku Smöt Hadfow has a very calm atmosphere. People can be seen relaxing, scocilizing, and going about all manner of business other than the daily grind. Men, women, children, all can be seen enjoying life in a laid-back way in the many parks which line Nofo̠ku Smöt Hadfow’s streets. In spite of this, quite a few people can be seen reading and the city has an abundance of libraries. It’s quite clear the community values education.

They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Nofo̠ku Smöt Hadfow's natural decorations nor waterways.

Cultural Notes

While Nofo̠ku Smöt Hadfow might ostensibly be ruled by some other power, real control lies with the senior members of the local craft and labor guilds. Their decisions have the practical weight of law, and much of their time and effort is spent squeezing out competitors and parceling out economic opportunities in the community. Some guilds might have little or nothing to do with their original trade, and now exist purely as shells for political influence.

Nofo̠ku Smöt Hadfow's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town.
